Technical Advisory Board

Michael ThompsonMichael Thompson

Dr. Thompson is chairman of FlexICs' Technical Advisory Board. He has been on the faculty at Cornell University's Department of Materials Science and Engineering for 17 years. He spent a year-long sabbatical at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he worked on a U.S. Department of Defense, Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) program to fabricate Thin Film Transistors on plastic. Thompson has expertise in transient thermal processing of silicon and serves as a technical advisor to Opticom ASA. He is a co-founder of FlexICs.

Thompson holds a Ph.D. and a M.S. in Applied Physics from Cornell University.


Paul G. CareyPaul G. Carey

Dr. Carey recently joined FlexICs as vice president - process development after serving on the company's advisory board since its inception. He has worked at Applied Materials and also at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). At LLNL he developed low temperature and pulsed laser semiconductor processing technology and directed a U.S. Department of Defense, Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) program to fabricate thin film transistors on plastic. Carey has expertise in process development and integration, including designing the first CMOS process flow with laser doped source/drain regions. He has written technical papers that have appeared in more than 40 publications and holds seven patents with additional patents pending. Carey is a co-founder of FlexICs.
